COMPUTER APPLICATION
PROJECT 1. MODELING OF AN ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN (25%)
For Project 1, i decided to use my studio 2 last project. I trace the plan from the board with Autocad and then export it to Rhino 3dm file to be extruded.

I began with extruding the floor then the walls. I continued to model out the details then i put it into specific layers so later on its easier for me to assign the material later on when i put it in 3dmax.

Then i transfer to 3dmax for rendering.

PROJECT 2A. EXTERIOR RENDERING (25%)
I imported my model in dwg file so i could assign material according to the layers. Then i add in camera on 3 eye levels and also add in trees and sunlight.

With Hair and Fur modifier, i was able to create the thatch roof from my design.

I assign materials according to layers.

i use vray hdri for my sky and adjust the sky according to my building

Post rendering with photoshop, add in figures and adjust saturation

PROJECT 2B. INTERIOR RENDERINGS (25%)
The furnitures are downloaded from archive3d.net and placed according to the spaces.
For Vray renderer, normal camera settings are replaced with Vray Physical camera to avoid over exposed scene.

Vray lighting and vray ambient light are placed, i did several test rendering to adjust the lighting luminous power and exposure of the scene

Target direct light are added in, replacing the mental ray sun.

Post rendering, changing the back ground and adjust the exposure

PROJECT 3. A MAXIMUM 90 SECONDS ANIMATION OF THE COMPLETED 3D SCENE
Set Irradiance map current preset to Medium- Animation, it could also be High- Animation but this would required more time to render per frames and sometimes it could result in crashing of 3d max. Change the mode from single frame to Animation (rendering).

Reduce Material glossiness and highlights for lesser time rendering, this will reduce the rendering calculation and so is the rendering time.

Rather than using spline for camera path, i decided to adjust camera movements by moving it along with the key frames setting. This gives more flexible movements and views to the camera. Vray physical camera basic parameter type is then changed from still cam to video cam.

Adding animation components such as doors opening and falling leaves before rendering. The components can be imported to other rendering softwares.

Time configuration set to 25 frame per second for faster test rendering

The max file with completed animation setting is then imported to lumion for parallel rendering. Lumion is also a rendering software that operates a faster rendering with a high visual graphic. The max file and animation components inside it can be imported to lumion software.

Rendering in lumion for 20 seconds take about 1 hour rendering, where 3dmax rendering could take up until 16 hours. I had no choice but to use lumion as my rendering due to the limited time and external submissions.
Renderings are then compiled and edited
