This project is designed as an introduction to building materials that are commonly used in the local construction industry. We are required to construct cubes using the listed material to explore and understand building making in relation to materials, design considerations of material according to their properties and to finally understand how the intrinsic forms, limitations and boundaries of a material factor in a design process in a 12x12x12 inch cube.

During this project, i, as a new student filled with confusion, had quite a hard time designing the cube. We were allowed to make a initial design by making 6x6x6 inch cube. I chose chopsticks as the initial material for the wood cube and a A4 paper as a material for the paper cube. It didnt turn out so nice, and my cube was very unstable and messy. So then i experiment again with another type of material which is satay sticks, which was BRILLIANT! I love it! it turns out very nice and rigid and easier to construct.

For the paper, i dont really have anything else in mind except card board since i need the cube to be strong. I used a rope to joint the edges of the wood cube and UHU glue as the joint for the paper cube.

I named the design ' The wormhole tunnel' because of the triangles that connect in the middle of the cube.
